Privacy Policy

Focus is a simple, iOS app that helps you stay on task. We designed Focus to minimize data collection and keep your information on your device whenever possible.

What We Collect

  • Local App Data: Timer state (start/stop times, elapsed seconds) and preferences are stored locally on your device.
  • Notifications: If you allow notifications, the app schedules local notifications (e.g., timer completion). These are created and managed on your device.
  • Calendar Access (Optional): If you choose to connect Google Calendar, Focus can create focus events in your calendar when you stop a session. The app uses your consented authorization to read calendars and write new events that you initiate.
  • Google Sign‑In (Optional): If you sign in, Focus securely stores the tokens required to access your Google Calendar. Tokens are kept on your device and used only to fulfill your requests (e.g., fetching calendars or creating events).

What We Don’t Collect

  • No analytics.
  • No ads and no advertising identifiers.
  • No tracking across apps or websites.
  • No server‑side storage of your timer data.

How Your Data Is Used

  • Timer & Widgets: Your timer information is used to update the app UI, widgets, and Live Activity. This information remains on your device.
  • Notifications: Used to alert you when a timer completes. These are local notifications.
  • Calendar (Optional): If you connect Google Calendar, the app will read your calendars to display options and write new events when you choose to log a session.

Third‑Party Services

Focus may interact with Google APIs if you sign in and connect your calendar. Your use of Google services is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms. Focus does not send your calendar data to any servers controlled by us; requests are made from your device directly to Google’s APIs.

Data Retention

Timer state and preferences are stored locally and retained until you delete the app or clear the app's data. Calendar events you create are stored in your Google account and subject to Google's retention policies.

Security

We follow platform best practices to secure local data and tokens used for Google Calendar access. You can revoke calendar access at any time in the app or via your Google account settings.

Your Choices

  • Use Focus without signing in to Google.
  • Disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
  • Disconnect Google Calendar or revoke access.
  • Delete the app to remove local data stored on your device.

Children's Privacy

Focus is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
