How to play

WASD or arrow keys to move. Press C to switch cubes for solo play; a second player can use IJKL or another gamepad. Gamepad left stick / D-pad also works. Select a maze or the sandbox above the game.

Escape pauses. Your best score stays in this browser.

On desktop, starting the game captures the mouse. Press Escape to release it and pause. Touch controls stay available on mobile.

On a touchscreen, drag to move. Switch cubes to explore both sides of a maze.

Original GameMaker 8.1 sprites and room coordinates, recovered from cubes22. The browser version repairs unfinished wall collisions, switches, and completion logic. Sandbox steering, gravity, friction, growth, and decay controls are adapted from the later Cubes 2 GMX sources. The original black cube artwork, starting population, and background music are restored. Their empty puzzle scenes are excluded.
